BAREFOOT: Anchorage man set off for Iliamna with dog, no provisions.

Police are asking the public for assistance in locating missing person John Martin
III, who was last seen in the Anchorage area on April 25 at about 8:30 a.m.
Martin had told a friend that he planned on walking barefoot to Iliamna from Anchorage
along with his 6-month-old dog. Martin had no provisions for himself or the dog
and told the friend he intended to live off the land. It is believed that Martin
hitched a ride to the Valley and began his walk in the area of the Knik/Goose Bay
airport.
Martin is a white male, 39 years old, 6 feet, 2 inches tall, 225 pounds with shoulder-length
brown hair, hazel eyes and a beard. The dog is a short-haired white dog with spots
on her head, possibly a Dalmatian mix.
Anyone with information as to the whereabouts of John Martin III is asked to call
APD at 786-8900.
